Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery is a Thai Forest Tradition monastery of Theravada Buddhism in the tradition of Ajahn Chah. With traditional monastic practice as its foundation, Abhayagiri provides an opportunity for the Sangha of monks, men, and women to live the forest-dwelling life of simplicity, meditation, and self-discipline, thereby supporting all to fully enter upon the Dhamma, the Buddha’s Path to Enlightenment.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank You. From a farm in rural Kyushu, Japan. Ajahn Jayasaro, I have some lavender plants to plant today in the flower and herb garden. I am so grateful for your Thai Buddhist lavender story. Your ‘Pause moment story’ was also helpful. The many pauses, in between the breaths throughout my day to realize, and then carry in the heart. Much more joyful, than thinking. Peace to everyone at Abhayagiri.

Thank you for this. It's interesting to hear the story of the two monks and the girl told by a monk. I first read this story when I was a teenager in '101 Zen Stories', and it taught me an important lesson. To me, the main point isn't the rules that the monks follow, but letting go. The monk who carried the girl put her down and instantly put it out of his mind, whereas the second monk couldn't but should have. Respect to all.
